WHO:
Swiss-Lebanese singer Dida Guigan, and electronic musician Marcel Saegesser, from Switzerland, met in 2010 and immediately established the LEL SAMAR PROJECT. While Dida composed tunes and wrote lyrics in Beirut, Marcel programed electronic grooves in Bern. Large numbers of mp3 files were being sent in both directions until the musicians got the chance to meet in Cairo for their current Pro Helvetia residency. Beirut-based artist Tarek Kandil created video projections for this musical journey.

WHY YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO LEL SAMAR PROJECT:
The LEL SAMAR PROJECT is constantly moving between the so-called Arab and western traditions and seeking for its own place, words and sounds. The duo’s hallmark is that they push the horizon further back, little by little. Their music, constantly searching for manifold layers of beauty, manages to put the audience in an astonished and sensual state.
